The Bossons glacier chair lift

Buvette du Glacier des BossonsLe glacier des Bossons

From the top of the Bossons village, the chair lift brings you up to 1,400m, to the approaches to the Bossons glacier, with an outstanding view of the ice-pinnacles

The Glacier des Bossons chalet is just 5 minutes’ walk from the arrival point of the chair lift. From its terrace, there is a fabulous view of the glacier’s terminal tongue and the ice-pinnacles of Plateau des Pyramides.

An exhibition in the form of a interpretative walk relates the glacier’s fascinating history. Every panel along the path presents a particular subject, such as the life of the glacier, the Little Ice Age, the evolution of the glacier, and so on...

The chalet is the departure point for the hike to the Les Pyramides chalet, with a view of the glacier’s ice cascade, the ice-pinnacles and the ice pyramids.

From there, the famous La Jonction hike takes you to the gateway to the high Alps at an altitude of 2,589 m. La Jonction is the last rocky spur before the kingdom of ice. There are spectacular views of the Bossons and Taconnaz glaciers. This was the route taken by J. Balmat and Dr. Paccard for the first ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786.

Where to eat: the Glacier des Bossons and Pyramides chalets serve typical local food in a unique setting.
