Housed in the former Chamonix-Palace which dates back to the early 20th C, the Musée Alpin records the development of Chamonix – from when the first tourists came to admire the glaciers right up to when the cable cars were built.
Situated in the old « Chamonix Palace » (the first of 3 palaces to be built in Chamonix at the beginning of the 20th century) , this beautiful museum retraces the development of Chamonix from the first tourists who came to admire the « glacières de Savoye » to the golden age of winter sports. An important collection of prints illustrate the considerable changes to the valley between the 18th and 20th centuries, but you can also admire photographs, relief maps, rock crystals, ancient objects, costumes and all that constitutes the memory of the valley.
