Summer Activities

Discover the joys of mountain sports ! At your ease: Climbing, mountaineering, hiking, cross-country biking, paragliding, canyoning, rafting... accompanied by Chamonix's professonal guiding services. Don't hesitate to contact these professionals to find out exactly what's on offer - you'll be surprised!

Hiking for children in Chamonix

The 'Compagnie des Guides' from Chamonix, organises 6 day hiking tours for juniors as follows:
- 9 to 11 years: The Tour of Mont-Blanc - this famouns hiking tour is a perfect initiation for youngsters to the joys and conviviality of walking with a group. The tour traverses both Italy and Switzerland, crosses several Alpine passes includes a rafting descent for a further element of fun.
- 10 to 12 years: Tour of the Vanoise - in the heart of the Vanoise national park where glaciers and wildlife are never far away.
- 13 to 16 years: The Grand Paradis - just a stones throw away in Italy, the Grand Paradis lives up to its name. A national park that is truly a haven for chamois and ibex and where edelweiss grow in proliferation.


Climbing for children and juniors

Climbing school at the Gaillands Rocks.
Every day, mornings or afternoons, there are 3 hour rock-climbing sessions for all levels of ability. Bookable on site:Cie des guides de Chamonix - Association Internationale des Guides du Mont Blanc

From 12 to 17 years :
Mountaineering courses - 5 days of mountain activities for beginners and more experienced climbers. Courses include rock-climbing, ice climbing, and applied mountaineering. Courses begin every Monday and are bookable through the 'Compagnie de Guides' in Chamonix.

Multi-Activity courses

Daily and weekly programmes offeer children the opportunity to discover a wide choice of sports and nature activities in the company of professional guides and leaders: Cross-country biking, rock-climbing, adventure hikes, canyoning, rafting, tyrolean traverses.. Cham'Aventure - Evolution 2 - Kailash

Mountain Biking : The perfect opportunity to discover both valley and mountain trails in the company of a qualified mountain bike leader.

Paragliding : Tandem flights from Planpraz(Brevent), from 8 years of age.

Rafting : Arve river descent, introduction to navigation techniques. From 10 years or age (minimum height 1.40 m)

Hydrospeed : Arve river descent, introduction to white water swimming. From 12 years of age (minimum height 1.45 m and competent swimmer)

Canyoning : Swimming, high jumps, water slides and abseiling...in mountain rivers. From 10 years of age.


Other sports for children in Chamonix... In the mountains, I can also swim, ice-skate, fish...

Swimming Pool : 25m indoor pool, adjacent fun pool with water fall and rapid river, 130m covered water slide, paddling pool for tiny tots. Swimming lessons may be booked directly at the pool.

Ice Rink : Olympic size covered ice rink.

Tennis and Squash : 19 hard courts, 2 of which are covered. 2 squash courts.
Golf : Professional golf lessons available for children, July - August, from Monday to Friday from 5pm to 6pm. Reservations: +33 (0)4 50 53 45 23

Fishing : Fishing in the valley's mountain rivers and lakes. Day and fortnightly permits available.
Marc Van Leynseele a qualified mountain leader and fishing guide, he offers a number of fishing hikes.

Bowling : 8 bowling alleys, indoor mini-golf, billiards and video games. Alley bumpers for children.

Alpine Museum

The museum retraces 2 centuries of valley life, from the first visitors to the «Savoy Glaciers», to the beginning of « winter sports ».
