Alternatives to the car: free train and bus in Chamonix Valley !
Warning : From April 2nd to June 28th, Mont-Blanc Express trains are replaced by "SNCF" buses between Le Fayet and the Swiss border.
The SNCF line serves all the villages from Saint Gervais-le Fayet to Martigny (Switzerland), passing through Servoz, Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentière and Vallorcine. One train approximately every hour. The SNCF line from Servoz to Vallorcine is free of charge for holders of the Carte d’Hôte pass, which is given to you on your arrival by your accommodation host.
Regular urban transport serves all the Valley and ski areas. It is free from Servoz to Le Tour for holders of the Carte d’Hôte pass or a ski-lift pass.
These free mini-buses make it easy to get around in the city centre. Departures every 10 minutes in the high season.
Electric bikes now available for hire at the Tourist offices of Chamonix, Les Houches, Servoz and Vallorcine.
If you like bike riding, but Chamonix’s hills sometimes get the better of you, this is a perfect option.
The cost per 24 hours hire is 10 euros, and can be renewed only once as numbers are limited.
This pass has many advantages, including free travel on buses and on SNCF trains for internal journeys, including between Servoz and Vallorcine, as well as concession rates for admission to public sports and arts facilities.
Tourist accommodation: the pass is given to you free of charge by your accommodation host on your arrival. Do not hesitate to ask for it.
If you are staying in free accommodation, the pass must be withdrawn exclusively from the town hall or the Tourist Office, for 2 euros per person for every week of stay.
