Outdoor Activities for children in Chamonix - Winter

Discover the joys of snow riding!

The different ski schools in the Chamonix valley offer ski and snow board lessons and courses. Lessons are adapted to all levels of ability and can be either private or in a group. Certain ski schools also offer a child minding service on a half or full-day basis, for 3 to 12 year olds. This service includes: lessons, lunch, games and supervision.
If you have a competitive spirit, or a strong desire to improve your performance, opt for the competition courses! Mini-courses also enable you to discover telemark skiing, freestyle and carving techniques....

The ski areas

Each person may have a ski area they prefer. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier, you'll find the pistes to suit.

The ski passes : A great range of passes for you and your family. New this year, the family pass: for 2 adults skiing with their children, the first child pays 50%, the second and all additional children ski for free!

Cross country skiing

The Chamonix valley offers 2 magnificent cross country circuits, one in Argentière, the other extending from Chamonix to the hamlet of Les Bois. An adapted and amusing terrain next to the cross-country chalet in Chamonix is ideal for discovering this sport.

The are 17 km of prepared pedestrian trails which enable you to get off the beaten track and into the heart of nature. These trails are free of access and are indicated by yellow signs (not to be confused with the cross-county trails which you should avoid walking on).

Professional guides offer day and half-day snowshoe outings.

Covered ice rink : olympic size piste

Outdoor rink : open subject to weather conditions

Swimming Pool : The nautical centre is composed of one competition pool 25m, one fun pool with river and waterfall, a paddling pool and a covered water slide (130m long). For accompanying parents there is a sauna, hammam and Jacuzzi.

Tennis : 2 covered tennis courts and 2 squash courts

Indoor climbing wall : 180m_ of climbing surface, 800 holds, height 3.60m. Children from 10 to 14yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

Bowling : 8 bowling alleys with bumpers for children, indoor mini-golf, billiards and video games.

Cinéma Vox : 3 cinemas. Additional film sessions in case of bad weather. Consult the weekly programme.

Alpin Museum : The museum retraces over two centuries of valley life, from the first visitors to the «Glacières de Savoye» to the development of winter sports and the ensuing winter games.

Crystal Museum : Exhibition of crystals found in the Mont Blanc range and the fabulous history of native crystal hunters.

Libraries : Library, games and music - A play area for the little ones (games and books) and over 16 000 books for young readers. Possibility to subscribe for 15 days.
