Motorhome areas

This page lists campervan service areas and other useful information for visitors using this form of transport. It is highly recommended to check into a campsite.

When you stay at a campsite, the accommodation provider will give you a carte d'hôte. This allows you to travel easily and free of charge on the SNCF network from Servoz to Vallorcine and to benefit from a discount on tickets for the Chamonix Mobilité bus urban transport network (and Mulets in Chamonix). All campsites and car parks are close to a bus stop or train station.

You can also benefit from reduced admission prices to sports and cultural facilities (such as the swimming pool, skating rink and museums).

If you choose not to stay at a campsite, you can purchase the visitor’s pass from the tourist offices in the Valley or at one of the municipal council offices (mairies).
Cost: €10, for all the same benefits.

To improve air quality, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley is keen to promote public transport and sustainable mobility.

Waste is sorted and special bins are provided all around the Valley to help you sort and dispose of your waste appropriately. It is forbidden to release wastewater into the environment.
It is forbidden to park outside of identified areas, especially in natural areas: campervans must comply with the rules in force.

A campervan is a category M1 vehicle. It may park in the same way as a car as long as it does not do so in a dangerous, obtrusive or abusive manner (the maximum time a vehicle is allowed to park is set at 24 hours in a mayoral order). 

The vehicle must be in roadworthy condition. Chairs, tables and other items must not be placed on the public highway. Campervans and similar vehicles circulating outside designated areas are liable to a fine of €35.
