Wonderful views of the Aiguilles des Drus. An astonishing area of red rock. Views of the Mer de Glace. Footpath constructed by the municipality of Chamonix and the French forestry board (ONF).

DescriptionAttention ! Avant de partir, consultez les conditions de la montagne sur le site de l'Office de Haute-Montagne www.chamoniarde.com ou par téléphone au +33 (0)4 50 53 22 08 et les prévisions météo sur notre site.

This trail follows the Sortie de la Vallée Blanche opening, created in 1968 to facilitate logging operations and make it easier for skiers coming back down into the valley. From the level crossing, head up the ski piste along the Montenvers railway. Ignore the Montenvers path on the right and go straight on along the path at the bottom of the meadow. Continue into the forest up to Les Planards farm where you'll cross the Montenvers railway line. Follow the winding path up to the Couloir d'Orthaz (beware of rock falls) and zigzag up to Le Cé. Follow the path as it flattens out somewhat: the trail cuts across the path from Les Bois and after the couloir de la Filiaz, it emerges from the forest climbing over the red boulders to reach the viewpoint
.
With 30 minutes more, you can reach the Montenvers site.

Other itinerary available from Les Bois.
