UNPLUGGED SENSORY WALKS IN CHAMONIX to unwind from the social network and re-connect to Chamonix’s natural environment.
DescriptionThe photographer and writer Teresa Kaufman has been hosting Discovery & Photo Walks since 2011 in the beautiful and energy-charged environment of the Chamonix Valley. Orignally designed for the sensitive and demanding photographers who come to photograph the Mont Blanc, some of her walks are attracting a different kind of visitor looking to disconnect in nature, with or without a camera. One or two of Teresa’s carefully chosen nature itineraries take place in locations where, according to Teresa, telluric energy is palpable. To her at least.
TELLURIC (or COSMIC ) ENERGY : The granite mountains around Chamonix are known for their magnetic energy. That’s why they attract so many determined sports-minded individuals. As the mountains call, the climber, runner, hiker, biker, glider, yoga master heed to their call. As does the painter, photographer, sculptor… It’s practically irresisitable.
But sometimes, we need a rest from all this magnetic energy beckoning for action.
After having lived near and visited on a regular basis one of these, let’s call it, chill zones, Teresa experienced a sense of relief ; relaxation and rejuvenation, reducing the pressure of the stressful situations of her daily life. But she never shared nor talked about this. Until recently when she noticed that her photographer clients, who came with her to these special spots, were not taking as many photographs as usual but instead, had the tendency to lie down, nap, do yoga positions or just disconnect.
So, she assumed, that these unique spots had a positive effect not only on her but on others, as well. Thus, Teresa is now introducing the UNPLUGGED SENSORY WALK in one or two selected locations of the valley.
UNPLUGGED WALKS : In order to help her visitors benefit from this positive energy, Teresa will ask the participants to disconnect from the internet and social networks for the time of the walk, which usually lasts approximately 2h ½ to 3 hours, depending on the pace of the participants.
To make the Unplugged Sensory Walk even more remarkable, these special energy zones are divinely situated in perhaps the valley’s most incredible landscape with a dramatic Mont Blanc backdrop to set the scene.
Although photography is not the key motivation for this type of sensory walk, digital cameras and smart-phones are welcome as well as dictaphones to record the silence and sounds of nature. Pens, ink, paper and paint tools are welcome for those who like to sketch. Children are welcome when accompagnied by their parents. Talking, laughing, telling stories is part of the walk experience.
Unless you choose to say nothing and just absorb. That’s OK too.
As a people photographer, Teresa will be happy to photograph you with your own camera or smartphone so that you will be able to take back a visual memory of yourself immersed in Chamonix’s incredible scenery.
To capture the sense of energy that is coherent to her approach, Teresa will propose her walks, weather permitting, in the late afternoon in order to follow the pattern of the sun, it’s intensity and colour enhancement to the natural surroundings.
An UNPLUGGED SENSORY WALK is proposed exclusively on a ONE TO ONE private basis and can be accomodated for one individual or for a group of friends and family….
Feel free to contact Teresa for more information. She will be happy to explain her approach to her own very personal way of « connecting » to the Chamonix Valley
