This route takes you across the southern slopes. Wonderful views over the Mont-Blanc range with an ever-changing perspective.
Drop down below the station to reach the level of the refuge de La Flegère. On the right, the path leads off horizontally rightwards to a chimney (fixed with handrails and steps) to help you as you climb down. Traverse above the Lanchers couloir.
After crossing the scree slope, you will enter the forest which opens out onto the
Alpage de la Charlanon (Charlanon-Flegere cable-car open in winter). Don’t take
the path to your left which leads to Chamonix. After the meadow, you come to the
base of the Charlanon ridge and then a small wood. This brings you out above the Parsa combe (chairlifts) which runs up to the Planpraz plateau. From here, you can see the cable-car and gondola stations below you.
Suggestion: This is also a popular walk to do in the other direction, using either
the cable-car or the gondola.
