Viewpoint over the Mer de Glace, the Gorges de l'Arveyron, the Aiguilles and the Chamonix valley.

Starting point in front of Les Tines train station in the forest. Take the road whose name is "Chemin de la Pierre n°2. which is almost opposite the railway station and leads into the forest. A little higher up, just before the reservoir, take the path on the right leading to the Source d'Arveyron. This takes you to the Cote du Piget. Follow the ridge up through the forest and cross the Petit Balcon Nord (a cross country ski run), ignoring the paths on the right to the Gorges and Sources d'Arveyron. 50 m higher up, turn left and keep the same trail to arrive at the refuge.
10minutes walk above the chalet you arrive to a wonderfull viewpoint over the Mer de Glace, Gorges de l'Arveyron, Aiguilles de Chamonix and CHamonix's valley.
