This is a walk through a natural mountain circus at the foot of le Buet and the
Glacier de Tre-les-Eaux. Beautiful flowers in June and July.
Take either the Loriaz footpath or the forest track to the hamlet of les Granges
- (1 566 m). Ignore the two footpaths on your right and take the path on your
left between the houses, which ascends across the hillside under the Cornes de
Loriaz, and takes you over a rocky step. A gentle path with one tricky section
(pitons and chains), takes you down to the river in the valley. Follow the path
until you reach 1 990 m and the entrance to the gorge near the Gouille au Bouc.
Descent time - 2 h by the same route or via a steep path (pitons, wire ropes) on
your right as you head back, below the Cornes de Loriaz. It follows the Chie des
Coins, Tre-les-Eaux and la Meuniere streams and brings you back to the village of le Couteray via Sur-le-Rocher.
