This famous needle, which is one of the highest in Chamonix, has been an unmissable destination for visitors for more than 60 years.
In just 20 minutes, the Aiguille du Midi cable car will take you from the centre of Chamonix to the high mountains, reaching an altitude of 3,842 m.
DescriptionPerched 3,777 m above sea level, the Aiguille du Midi and its viewing platforms offer a panoramic view across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift will then take you on to the highest deck at 3,842 m, where you can take in the uninterrupted views of the Mont Blanc.
STEP INTO THE VOID!
Breathtaking! Thrill seekers will love the site’s most recent attraction – a technical feat offering an unforgettable experience! Step into the viewing box made entirely of glass and look down at the 1,000 m of emptiness below your feet... One small step for a visitor, one giant leap in the history of the Aiguille du Midi! Watch your step...
A steel gallery measuring 32 m allowing you to walk all the way around the Aiguille du Midi’s central peak, 3,700 m up – there’s no turning back!
THE ONLY WAY IS UP
An exceptional location calls for an exceptional idea... The Aiguille du Midi is the starting point for a number of mountain routes, including, of course, climbing the legendary Mont Blanc via the 3 Monts. A number of well-known mountain-climbers have left their footprints here, including the famous Gaston Rébuffat. To pay homage to these inventive and daring mountaineers, the world’s highest museum will be built at an altitude of 3,777 m.
ESPACE MONT BLANC
A place to rest and reflect...
Take a seat on the benches opposite the picture windows and relax. But make sure you don’t miss a second of the stunning views to be seen from the Espace Mont Blanc!
The cafeteria and souvenir shop are open all year round and the restaurant “3842m” is the perfect spot to savour Savoie culinary specialities in a unique setting.
PANORAMIC MONT BLANC CABLE CAR
Once you reach the top, don’t miss the cable car ride over the Glacier du Géant to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy.
The cable car will take you over the seracs and crevasses up to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy. (Please note that this is not included in the MONT-BLANC MultiPass).
PLAN DE L’AIGUILLE
The cable car ride between Chamonix and the Aiguille du Midi is in two stages, meaning you can stop off at the Plan de l’Aiguille.
2,310 m above sea level, it is the starting point for the Balcon Nord hike up to the Montenvers site. Food and drinks are available at lunchtime at the Refuge du Plan, which is just 5 minutes away on foot. A very welcome break in the mountains!
