An unrivalled view over the Mont Blanc Massif.
Tucked in the hollow of the Aiguilles Rouges within the Nature Reserve, this beautiful lake is often snowed over. It reigns at the centre of a splendid view over the Aiguilles de Chamonix, Les Drus, and La Verte. You will find the Lac Blanc mountain refuge on arrival.
Start from Col des Montets: behind the Nature Reserve's chalet, follow the footpath as it winds its way 400 metres up a combe to the steep plateau of La Remuaz. Down below on the left, you will see the Jeunesse et Montagne monument (1943) and on the right the small Lac de la Remua. The path then takes you to the Tête aux Vents junction. Turn right and follow the path along a ridge. If you keep to the right-hand side footpath, you will be rewarded with views of five beautiful lakes as you ascend. After the last lake, the path becomes steeper and there is an equipped section to help you negotiate the huge rounded boulders. This brings you out into a hollow where you will find the lake and the mountain refuge.
