A house dating from 1750 is home to the museum, recording the mountain way of life via the recreation of a traditional dwelling and displaying every day objects in their original setting.
DescriptionPERMANENT EXHIBITION
The Montagnard museum is located in one of the oldest house of the center of the village. The museum presents a collection of ethnographic objects used in the Arve valley for agro pastoral activities in the villages and in the pastures.
Three rooms of the traditional housing is represented in the museum: the “pèle” (bedroom and living room), the “outa” (kitchen) and the “sarto” (cellar). Two rooms are dedicated to the temporary exhibition. At the ground floor, you’ll find objects in relation with the processing of milk, the porterage, the farm work and the immigration in Les Houches at the 19th century.

Guided tours, activities and workshops for all ages are organized throughout the year.
